Harry Kane: Tottenham could ‘cash in’ this summer as striker’s stance revealed – pundit

Alan Hutton has suggested Tottenham only have one more transfer window to “cash in” on Harry Kane.

The former Spurs defender, speaking exclusively to Football Insider, admitted both player and club are at a “crossroads” over the 28-year-old’s future.

As reported by the Athletic’s David Ornstein on Monday (21 February), Kane could run down his contract, which expires until 2024, if he is not sold this summer and cannot be convinced to pen a new deal.

Spurs are reportedly waiting on Kane to initiate talks over a new deal after he rejected a lucrative offer last summer.

The striker is said to be assessing Spurs’ progress before making a decision on his future.

Hutton admitted this summer could be the last chance Tottenham get to seal a big-money transfer.

Hutton told Football Insider’s Russell Edge: “They’re at a crossroads. Obviously, he’s got a couple of seasons left on his current deal.

“You’re actually thinking if they’re going to cash in on him, it has to be now. Are they going to get the money that Daniel Levy will want at this moment in time?

“It’ll be interesting to see how it plays out come the end of the season.

“He’s a top-class player, he’s one of the best in the world in his position. He’s not getting any younger.

“At 28, 29 it’s a difficult situation to be in.”

Kane has scored 17 goals in 34 appearances across all competitions this season.

He netted twice against summer suitors Manchester City on Saturday to help Spurs seal a 3-2 win.
