Harry Maguire has Man United ‘regret’ after offer rejected – pundit
Alan Hutton has claimed Harry Maguire could regret not leaving Man United on loan this month.
Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the former Tottenham and Aston Villa defender said that if he were in Maguire’s position he would want to leave.
According to the Daily Star (30 January), the 29-year-old rejected a loan offer from Inter Milan in order to stay at Old Trafford and fight for his place in the team.
The centre-back is said to be willing to leave in the summer if his game time does not improve.
The defender has made just eight Premier League appearances for Erik ten Hag’s side this season and has started just four of those games.
When asked if Maguire could come to regret turning down the loan, Hutton told Football Insider: “If I was him as a footballer, I would want to go.
“Everything that has happened at Man United, it has been very difficult for him.
“We all know that he is a good defender. When he is at the top of his game he is a great defender. For an opportunity to go there, play in Italy at a top team. There is an opportunity to go in and play.
“He is down the pecking order at this moment in time, it was just a couple of weeks ago Luke Shaw was playing in front of him.

“I understand that he is the captain, he wants to fight for his place. He has got unfinished business and he wants to turn things around. If you are going to sit there for most of the season on the bench it is going to be difficult.
“He might look back and think I could have gone to Milan and things could have been a lot different. He might think that way now that the window has closed.“
