Harry Maguire had a dedicated message for a Manchester United teammate despite the side falling to a disappointing home defeat against Wolves in their latest Premier League clash.
Man United suffered their 15th league loss of the season as Wolves came away with a 1-0 win at Old Trafford. Pablo Sarabia’s stunning free-kick proved to be the difference, continuing Ruben Amorim’s inconsistent domestic campaign.
Maguire was left on the bench and wasn’t called upon turn the result around, even after his midweek heroics against Lyon in the Europa League.
Recently, Maguire shared a heartfelt message for Luke Shaw following his return from injury, and now, despite the result, he’s sent another show of support to a teammate, highlighting the unity in the dressing room even in tough moments.
Harry Maguire shows support for Tyler Fredricson after Manchester United debut
Tyler Fredricson was handed his official debut for United at the weekend, starting in defence during the 1-0 loss to Wolves. Although the result didn’t go United’s way, the 20-year-old showed glimpses of promise on a difficult afternoon.
Maguire took a moment after the match to praise the youngster, saying: “Congratulations. Brilliant debut, well done mate.”
Fredricson had yet to feature in any domestic competitions or the Europa League prior to this, but has been a key figure for the Under-21s this season, making 17 appearances.
On the other hand, Maguire has enjoyed something of a resurgence under Amorim this campaign. The centre-back’s performances were rewarded with a one-year contract extension back in January despite Man United fans questioning Amorim’s decision to give him the new deal.
With just 12 months left on his deal this summer, further talks are expected between Maguire and Man United. But regardless of his future, his leadership and influence in the dressing room continue to shine.

Ruben Amorim under sack pressure as Europa League becomes key focus
Amorim is under mounting pressure of a sack after a disappointing domestic season, with United currently sitting 14th in the Premier League table.
Since taking over, Amorim has secured just six wins in the league, and with the latest defeat it means United have 15 losses, which is the most in a single Premier League season for the club.
However, United have been far more convincing in Europe. They are preparing to face Athletic Club in the semi-finals of the Europa League, and success in the competition could ease the scrutiny surrounding the Portuguese manager.
While results in the league have been well below expectations, a European trophy would go some way towards redeeming a challenging campaign for both Amorim and Man United.
