Harry Maguire sends four-word message to Man United fans pre-showdown

Harry Maguire remained positive on social media despite Manchester United’s dramatic loss against Brentford in the Premier League.

Man United continued their poor domestic form after losing to Brentford in a 4-3 loss on 4 May at the Gtech Community Stadium.

Alejandro Garnacho and Amad Diallo both struck in the final moments to give hope of a comeback, but the goals came too late to salvage a result.

Frustration quickly set in among supporters, with many Man United fans singling out Luke Shaw for criticism after a difficult night. The left-back, making just his second start of the season following injury, failed to make an impact and looked off the pace.

Still, amid the negativity, Maguire looked to rally the fanbase with a message of encouragement, urging focus as United prepare for a crucial Europa League second-leg tie against Athletic Club on 8 May.

Man United to hold talks over Harry Maguire’s future amid contract uncertainty

The England international sent a clear message to fans on Instagram, writing: “Focus turns to Thursday” followed by a heart emoji, as attention shifts to the decisive Europa League second-leg against Athletic Club.

Maguire was a standout performer for Man United in the first-leg, notably producing a brilliant solo run before delivering a pinpoint cross that led to Casemiro’s opening goal. United hold a three-goal advantage heading into the return leg.

The defender has been one of United’s more consistent figures under Amorim, making 35 appearances across all competitions this season and offering much-needed stability in the back line.

With his contract due to expire next summer, Football Insider revealed that Man United are expected to hold talks with Maguire at the end of the season to determine whether he remains part of their long-term plans.

While some fans were sceptical about Amorim’s decision to rely on Maguire, the 32-year-old has gone on to rejuvenate his career under the Portuguese boss and become a key figure in United’s European campaign.

Ruben Amorim eyes European glory as sack pressure mounts

Despite steady progress in Europe, Amorim continues to face pressure at Man United due to the club’s dismal domestic form.

Since taking over from Erik ten Hag in November, United have slumped to 15th in the Premier League.

Frustration among the fanbase has grown, with many questioning Amorim’s tactical approach and squad selections. Just three wins in their last ten matches across all competitions have only amplified concerns.

The Europa League now represents United’s only chance to secure Champions League football next season and lifting silverware could ease the tension surrounding Amorim’s position, at least in the short term.
