Harry Maguire: Pundit shares ‘strange’ claim as Man United open transfer talks
Harry Maguire will stay at Man United and fight for his place as the club looks to sign new defenders.
That’s according to former Leeds United stopper Paddy Kenny, speaking exclusively to Football Insider about the club’s links to several centre-backs.
According to Spanish outlet Cadena SER (24 May), Pau Torres, Villarreal and Man United are in negotiations over a deal which could be worth €50million (£42.5million).

On 30 May. The Guardian also reported the Red Devils have made contact with Ajax as they look to sign Jurrien Timber.
Despite this, Kenny insists Maguire will remain at Old Trafford though he may not stay on as captain.
“Maguire has had fingers pointed at him but I think that should be every Man United player really,” Kenny told Football Insider correspondent Ben Wild.
“I feel like he has been scapegoated. Whether it is because he cost so much or because he is the captain.
“If they are looking to sign one or two centre-halves, you need three or four in that position.
“I’m sure he will be fighting for the position if he does stay, I have to say I think he will stay.
“He always does well for England no matter how his club form is. It’s a strange one, whether he will still be captain I don’t know.”

Maguire was at fault for a number of high-profile errors as Man United limped to a sixth-place finish in the 2021-22 Premier League.
He made 37 appearances in all competitions during that campaign.
