Harvey Barnes responds to Dewsbury-Hall’s gloating Chelsea message

Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall sent a triumphant message after Chelsea’s Club World Cup success amid speculation over his future.

Chelsea signed Dewsbury-Hall for a £30million fee last summer at the behest of Enzo Maresca, who wanted to bring the midfielder with him from Leicester after they claimed the Championship title in 2024.

Maresca’s ambition to continue that success in a different shade of blue has come to pass despite an at-times difficult first season at Chelsea, and the Italian will begin his second with two trophies in the bag.

Dewsbury-Hall featured more often in the UEFA Conference League than in the Premier League for the Blues last term, and like the former, his and Chelsea’s Club World Cup campaign also ended in triumph.

Dewsbury-Hall backs Chelsea to continue – ‘Paint the world blue’

Dewsbury-Hall’s relative lack of impact in his first season at Stamford Bridge opened the door for a potential move to Everton in the January transfer window, but the 26-year-old has stayed put.

The Club World Cup has allowed Dewsbury-Hall to play a more prominent role, though, and he made his fifth appearance of the tournament as a substitute for Reece James in the final, which Chelsea won 3-0.

Cole Palmer‘s double inside the opening half-hour was quickly followed up by new signing Joao Pedro’s goal right before half-time, and Dewsbury-Hall posed with the trophy in an Instagram post at full-time.

In a message liked by the similarly exit-linked Newcastle star Harvey Barnes, Dewsbury-Hall said: “Paint the World BLUE. Champions!”

Chelsea changes imminent after Club World Cup success

As Newcastle prepare to listen to offers for Barnes after completing the signing of Anthony Elanga, so to will Chelsea be on the hunt to strengthen their squad as both clubs return to the Champions League.

Chelsea completed several transfers over the course of the Club World Cup itself, and Joao Pedro‘s contribution proved to be crucial with three goals following his £60million move from Brighton on 2 July.

Dewsbury-Hall could be one player pushed towards the exit door after Dario Essugo and Kendry Paez’s arrivals in West London, but his prominence in this summer’s success does suggest that he still has a future at Chelsea.
