Harvey Elliott facing Liverpool axe after what pundit has spotted
Frank McAvennie has claimed Harvey Elliott will be axed from the Liverpool starting lineup.
Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the former West Ham striker said Jurgen Klopp needs to give Elliott a “breather”.
The 19-year-old was in the starting lineup for the Reds for their 2-1 defeat to Leeds United on Saturday (29 October).
The midfielder also featured for Jurgen Klopp’s side in the Champions League game against Ajax (26 October), and netted his second goal in as many games in the top competition.
Speaking to club media (28 October), Klopp hailed Elliott’s incredible consistency and said he is pleased with how his development is progressing this season.
When asked if Elliott has nailed on his place in the starting lineup with his recent performances, McAvennie told Football Insider: “No I do not think so, not if everyone is fit for big games.
“I think he is a talent but he is still very young. He is a Liverpool supporter so he is going to want to play every game. Klopp needs to leave him out, give him a breather. If you are that young your muscles are not fully ready yet.

“At the moment he has to play him and he has done magnificently. It is a talent that Liverpool will keep. But I think when everyone is fit he will be in and out.
“He deserves to be in the team and that is why Klopp will be playing him but he deserves a rest for some games. He has got to make sure he does not burn out.“
