Harvey Elliott: Liverpool sensation could be transfer saviour after source’s reveal – pundit

Liverpool may not sign a striker to replace Divock Origi – thanks to teenager winger Harvey Elliott.

That’s according to Alan Hutton, speaking exclusively to Football Insider about how the 18-year-old is one of several attacking options who can slot into Jurgen Klopp’s frontline at Anfield.

A recruitment source told Football Insider on Saturday (19 March) that Origi, 26, has informed Liverpool he wants to leave this summer after slipping down the pecking order at Anfield.

The hitman’s minutes have diminished following Luis Diaz’s arrival in January, while Diogo Jota has been a standout performer in the centre-forward role.

Hutton suggested the senior duo, coupled with Elliott’s rise into a first-team star , mean that Liverpool may not need to splash out on a new striker.

Asked if Liverpool need to spend money on a replacement for Origi, Hutton told Football Insider’s Russell Edge: “Well, I mean, we’ll have to see. If Origi goes, is Salah going to sign his new contract?

“They’re issues for Liverpool. If they both go, then they would 100 per cent have to bring somebody in but they’ve got options.

“Elliott, Diaz, Jota, Firmino – they have got players who can do that. I think they’ll have to just wait and weigh up their options once they know who’s actually leaving.

“If it’s just Origi, they possibly don’t need anybody in. If someone else was to go on top of that, then I think they would need somebody.”

Origi has played 14 times for Liverpool this season, with five goals under his belt.

Meanwhile, Elliott has made 10 appearances, having suffered a serious ankle injury in September.

In other news, pundit claims Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain could quit Liverpool this summer after what he spotted.
