‘He wants to create unrest’ – Yoane Wissa has made new move to force Newcastle transfer

Yoane Wissa has made a new move as he wants to “create unrest” and force through a transfer to Newcastle United.

Newcastle have been attempting to sign Wissa throughout the transfer window, having seen an improved £40million bid rejected for his services on Wednesday (20 August).

Eddie Howe’s side are considering their striker options following the speculation surrounding Alexander Isak, who is currently on strike as he looks to secure a move to Liverpool.

Wissa took the unusual step of unfollowing Brentford on Instagram earlier this week after seeing a move to Newcastle blocked.

The 28-year-old wasn’t named in the Brentford squad for their 3-1 defeat against Nottingham Forest at the City Ground on 17 August.

Brentford facing ‘headache’ after Yoane Wissa latest

This article contains exclusive comment from Keith Wyness, former Everton, Aston Villa and Aberdeen CEO.

Newcastle are exploring other striker options alongside Wissa this summer, with Howe keen to strengthen his side after qualifying for the Champions League.

Wissa, whose contract expires in June 2026, registered 20 goals and five assists in 39 appearances last season.

Speaking on the new edition of Football Insider’s Inside Track podcast, Wyness said: “This is exactly the Isak situation in reverse, isn’t it?

“I mean, Brentford is sticking out for the money in the same way that Newcastle’s sticking out for Isak, and that’s it.

“Now, this whole withdrawing social media is a whole new tactic. Look, what does that mean? I mean, really, do I care?

“It’s just another sign from a player that he wants to make a move and create unrest.

“And of course, willing journalists in a lot of the media will print these sorts of stories and give Brentford another headache, particularly for the new manager as well.

“For Keith Andrews, it’s another one he’s got on his plate.”
