‘He will not be seen’ – Newcastle hit by crushing new Yoane Wissa blow
Newcastle have been waiting a long time for Yoane Wissa to make his debut for the club amid ongoing injury concerns.
Newcastle chased Yoane Wissa‘s services all summer as they aimed to fill the gap left by Alexander Isak amid his revolt and refusal to feature for the club until being sold.
His eventual departure saw Newcastle sign Wissa from Brentford on deadline day as his own long saga eventually ended with a big-money move to the Tyneside club.
Wissa suffered a serious knee injury for DR Congo against Senegal on 9 September, before he had even made his Magpies bow, and he was ruled out by Eddie Howe for around six weeks as a result.
He is still yet to feature for Newcastle as they manage him so he is in top shape when the time comes to make his debut, and the chances of him going to the African Cup of Nations in December with DR Congo have now been revealed.

Wissa still unlikely to feature for Newcastle until December at the earliest
Previous reports have indicated that Wissa is set to make the bench against Everton as Newcastle take them on on 29 November.
The Daily Mail, have instead now reported that he is still due to be ruled out of the Magpies’ next three games, the last of which includes the Everton clash, as well as games against Man City and Marseille.
There have been no setbacks regarding his knee over the international break as the club continue to be careful with his recovery and want him to make an impact upon his return, but Wissa “will not be seen” until December.
What Eddie Howe has said about Wissa’s injury
Wissa is unlikely to go to the African Cup of Nations with DR Congo due to his injury issues, and the Magpies will be wanting him to be back fit as soon as possible so they can finally see returns on their investment.
They face Man City this weekend on home turf, and Howe talked about Wissa in the build-up to the game, saying: “Yoane Wissa is still out but starting to up his work now. So yeah, we are looking in a healthier place.”

The Newcastle boss is currently under a bit of pressure with their fans for the club’s poor run at the start of this campaign.
He needs a full complement of players, and particularly attackers, to choose from very soon, and having Wissa as an option will take some of the load away from Nick Woltemade, who has had to adapt to English football very quickly.
