'Hell of a move' - Exclusive: Bruce reacts to potential Celtic £40K-a-wk striker signing
Alex Bruce admits it would be a “hell of a move” if Sheffield Wednesday striker Jordan Rhodes were to join to Celtic on a free transfer this summer.
The former Kilmarnock defender, speaking exclusively to Football Insider assistant editor Russell Edge, believes the 30-year-old would be able to turn around his indifferent form with a move north of the border.
As revealed by Football Insider, the hitman is willing to take a pay-cut to join the Bhoys this summer when his £40,000-a-week contract with Wednesday comes to an end.
This site revealed that Celtic made a last-ditch effort to sign the Scotland international on deadline day in January and it is understood Rhodes has not given up hope they will reignite their interest at the end of the season.
Having seen the striker net just three goals this season, Bruce believes he could rediscover his best form with a move to Parkhead.
Bruce told Football Insider: “He’d be a good signing because one thing that Jordan does do, he knows where the back of the net is. He’s proven that at the majority of clubs he’s been at.

“It would be a hell of a move for him, I have to say, because he’s not really done much in the last couple of seasons but I could see it being a good fit.
“I definitely would see him scoring goals up in Scotland.”
Rhodes has struggled to net regularly in the last couple of years, with the 2015/16 season the last campaign he hit double digits in the league.
He is currently on a £40,000-a-week contract at Hillsborough having joined the Owls from Middlesbrough back in 2017.
