‘He’s exactly what they need’ – Keith Wyness impressed as West Ham finalise deal
Axel Disasi’s loan move to West Ham could prove to be one of the best additions of the January transfer window.
That is according to ex-Everton, Aston Villa, and Aberdeen chief executive Keith Wyness, speaking exclusively to Football Insider, who is backing Disasi to have an impact at the London Stadium.
Disasi joins West Ham on loan from Chelsea until the end of the season, with Nuno Espirito Santo’s side fighting to remain in the Premier League.
West Ham will pay Chelsea a loan fee of £1.68million and cover Disasi’s wages, who has not made a Premier League appearance this season.
West Ham ‘pleased’ to have agreed Axel Disasi deal
Everton’s former chief Keith Wyness – who served as CEO at Goodison Park between 2004 and 2009 and now runs a football consultancy advising elite clubs – believes Disasi strengthens West Ham‘s back four.
Speaking on the new edition of Football Insider‘s Inside Track podcast, Wyness thinks West Ham are still backing themselves to stay in the Premier League.
He told Football Insider‘s Inside Track podcast: “I think he’s a fierce defender. I think he’s exactly what they need in a relegation battle right now.
“I wouldn’t say he’s one of the great ballplayers playing out from the back and that sort of thing, but he certainly is a very good defender. And that’s what I think they’ve needed to tighten up on. So yes, I think that’s one of their better signings of the transfer window.
“And I think that will help them a lot in this battle going forward. They were unlucky at Chelsea at the weekend. Another win there would really have put them back on the track, but nevertheless the momentum in the squad must feel as though it’s there, and I think that I think Nuno will be pleased to have the Disasi in there and I think he does strengthen them at the back.”

West Ham without star for crucial clash
Disasi could make his West Ham debut when the London club travel to Burnley for a crucial Premier League fixture.
Centre-back Jean-Clair Todibo will be suspended following his red card at Chelsea, with Max Kilman also a contender to replace the 26-year-old in defence.
Burnley have not won a league game since the end of the October, so West Ham need to take the opportunity to close the gap on Nottingham Forest.
