‘He’s going to Tottenham’ – Liverpool set to be beaten in race for defender signing
Tottenham and Liverpool are set to battle it out for a defender who has impressed so far this season.
Arne Slot’s side currently sit eighth in the Premier League table, three places behind Spurs, but on the same number of points (18).
Liverpool are working on a centre-back signing in the January transfer window as they look to address their defensive woes that have been evident over the past month.
However, they could face competition from Tottenham as they look to secure one of their top targets.

Liverpool will be beaten by Tottenham in race for big talent
According to reports, both Liverpool and Tottenham are in the race for highly rated Wolfsburg defender Konstantinos Koulierakis.
Everton’s former chief Keith Wyness – who served as CEO at Goodison Park between 2004 and 2009 and now runs a football consultancy advising elite clubs – believes the Greek centre-back is just one of five or six names on the Reds’ shortlist.
However, speaking on the new edition of Football Insider’s Inside Track podcast, Wyness revealed that, according to his sources, Koulierakis is more likely to end up at Tottenham.
Wyness added that the 21-year-old is one of the “top young defenders” around and will be attracting attention from a lot of big teams.
He told Football Insider‘s Inside Track podcast: Well, I’ve got to say, there are five or six potential targets that Liverpool have got now. He is another one to be added to the list.
“However, I don’t know if he’s going to Liverpool. I think Spurs are another one in the race. They already have Micky van de Ven, who has been incredible recently. I mean, what an athlete he is.
“Koulierakis, who is at Wolfsburg at the moment, is definitely one of the top young defenders and will attract a lot of attention. But I think he may be going to Spurs, that’s what I’m hearing, rather than Liverpool.”
Liverpool to accept offers for defender
Meanwhile, Liverpool could reportedly accept offers for Ibrahima Konate in the January transfer window.

That is according to former Man United and Blackburn chief scout Mick Brown, who claims that the Reds will look to make money on his sale if they can land a replacement.
Football Insider revealed on 26 October that Konate is edging closer to leaving Liverpool after stalls in their contract talks, with a move now more likely than not.
While a pre-contract agreement seems most likely, Slot’s side could be tempted to accept an offer for the centre-back during the January window.
