Celtic will be looking to get Anthony Ralston a move away from Parkhead to get him playing more regular first team football, according to Jackie McNamara.
The former Hoops and Scotland star, speaking exclusively to Football Insider, says that the 20-year-old needs to be playing at the highest level possible and after struggling for game time during the 2018/19 season will be someone Celtic look to offload.
Football Insider exclusively revealed that the Bhoys are ready to offer Motherwell the chance to take the young defender on a temporary basis as part of a deal to secure David Turnbull’s signing.
McNamara feels that with just five first team appearances under his belt in the last 12 months the time has come for him to look for a move away.
Asked about the promising full back, McNamara told Football Insider: “I think he needs to play now, he’s had a taste of it, he did well before he had an injury.
“He was on loan at Dundee United, I think he’s at that age where he needs to play week in, week out and if it’s not getting games at Celtic then he’s got to move out somewhere, play as high as he can every week.
“That’s what they’re looking at now, to get him game time.”
In total Ralston has made 15 appearances for the Hoops’ senior side, including playing the full 90 minutes against PSG in the Champions League, while he has two goals to his name.
In other Celtic news, it can be REVEALED that the club are convinced they’ve signed a “diamond” whose value will skyrocket next season.
