‘Heartbeat of the squad’ – Windass bigs up banished Rangers player
By James Black
Rangers winger Josh Windass has revealed Kenny Miller has been a huge influence on him since joining the club – and admitted the 37-year-old has been a huge help as he tries to get better as a footballer.
Windass has been a regular for Pedro Caixinha’s side on the left flank but has struggled to make much of an impact on the Light Blues so far this season.
Miller recently found himself banished to the club’s Under-20 squad after reportedly leaking details of a team meeting to a newspaper but has since been restored to Caixinha’s senior squad.
Former Accrington ace Windass revealed he goes to Miller for advice when he has had a poor game – and even called the veteran striker the “heartbeat” of Caixinha’s squad.
“Kenny is the heartbeat of the squad, Windass said, as quoted by The Herald website.
“He’s got a good attitude, he trains like a top professional every single day. The lads bounce off him when he trains and
“The lads bounce off him when he trains and try to follow his example.
“He has helped me a lot; he has given me advice if I’ve not played well.
“If I ask him what he thinks, he will always give me an honest answer. He’s been really good for me.”

Miller has played for Rangers in the Champions League and lifted trophies at the club, as well as stints playing in England’s Premier League and abroad, and has been working with the Gers’ Under-20 squad over the last few months as he works towards his coaching badges.
The 37-year-old missed the Gers last game after being sent down to face Brentford B with Graeme Murty’s Under-20’s on the same weekend but could find himself restored to the side when the Light Blues take on St. Johnstone on Friday night in the Scottish Premiership.
Miller has made 250 appearances for the Gers over three different spells with the club.
