‘He’s my tip’ – Premier League manager who’s far better than Ruben Amorim backed to join Man United

A Premier League manager who is excelling at the moment has been tipped to join Manchester United.

Ruben Amorim is currently under massive pressure at Man United and has failed to provide any consistency throughout his time at Old Trafford.

However, Amorim is expected to be given until the end of the current campaign to turn things around.

It means that if there is to be a change of manager at the Red Devils, then it is likely to come next summer.

Oliver Glasner is ‘thinking about’ Man United job

Oliver Glasner is one man who has been linked to the Man United job, following an impressive spell at Crystal Palace.

Everton’s former chief Keith Wyness – who served as CEO at Goodison Park between 2004 and 2009 and now runs a football consultancy advising elite clubs – believes that Glasner may be thinking about a move to Old Trafford.

Speaking on the new edition of Football Insider’s Inside Track podcast, Wyness insisted that the Crystal Palace manager is a class above Amorim, and has proven he can do it in the Premier League.

Wyness added that Glasner’s insistence on keeping Marc Guehi in the summer transfer window would have done his reputation no harm.

He told Football Insider‘s Inside Track podcast: “The whole Mark Guehi thing was an issue for Glasner to say the least. It was played out pretty much in public as well. I think he’s done himself no harm with the way he’s handled things. He seems to be very measured.

“He is definitely a manager that would be on the radar of most owners in the Premier League and overseas. Listen, having a 19-game winning streak, which Everton managed to finish last weekend of course, gives him some great pedigree and some great current presence in terms of the manager stakes.

“I think there would be some bigger clubs that would be looking at him. Of course, Man United springs to mind for me, and that’s the one that he may be thinking about, and they’re thinking about him for next season.

“He’s proven he can do it in the Premier League, there’s no doubt about it. He’s a breed above Amorim in terms of the way he handles players tactically and his preparation.

“He’s not wedded to a particular system, but he does like attacking football as well. That’s my tip at the moment, if anything were to happen at Man United.”

Man United’s real reason for giving Ruben Amorim time

If they did decide to sack him, Man United would be forced to pay Amorim £12million in compensation, which could be seen as an unnecessary outlay.

Sources say United are reluctant to spend big on sacking Amorim due to profit and sustainability concerns.

This could mean that the former Sporting Lisbon boss may be given longer than he would’ve been to try and turn things around at Old Trafford.

However, if results don’t improve, the hierarchy at United will have no choice but to make a change in the dugout.
