Gold reveals how much money Moyes will get in January to improve West Ham squad
By John Reid
West Ham chairman David Gold has claimed that David Moyes is the right man to manage West Ham at this moment in time, but admitted he won’t get a lot of money to spend in January.
Speaking to Sky Sports, Gold said “He’s the best man that’s available for this time… it’s perfect for him, and it’s perfect for us.
“I’m optimistic about the future…he’s the right man for the job.”
One bit of bad news for fans was that Gold claimed “there wouldn’t be a lot” of transfer funds available to Moyes in January.
“Let’s face it, at the start of this season we thought we had the best squad of players in a decade.”
West Ham’s appointment of David Moyes until the end of the season hasn’t gone down well with a section of fans or former players, but former West Ham boss Sam Allardyce thinks that Moyes will do a good job at the Olympic Stadium.
Moyes’ last jobs in football have been a failure.
He was sacked by Manchester United after only 10 months despite being Sir Alex Ferguson’s hand-picked successor to replace him at Old Trafford.
His time at Real Sociedad lasted just over a year and he left Sunderland after getting them relegated from the Premier League.
Moyes takes over at West Ham after Slaven Bilic was sacked following the weekend 4-1 defeat to Liverpool and his first game in charge is an away trip to Watford, with his first home game coming a week later against Leicester.
