Hibs fans furious over Hearts announcement: ‘Absolute shambles’, ‘Farcical’

Hibernian are set to travel to Tynecastle next month to take on Hearts in the Edinburgh derby.

Despite the Jam Tarts challenging for the title, Hibs actually won the last Edinburgh derby 3-2 at the end of December.

Now, David Gray’s side will be aiming to damage the Jambos’ Scottish Premiership title hopes once again on 10 February, with the two rivals set to clash once again.

However, while preparations are beginning for the fixture, the Easter Road faithful were left furious with the recent away ticket news.

With Hibs now out of the Scottish Cup, the Edinburgh derby is one of the final games they have which has anything on the line for the Easter Road side.

Gray’s side are comfortably in the top six ahead of the impending split, and the highest they could realistically finish is fourth.

Therefore, anticipation is high for the derby, especially as a victory for the visitors could seriously damage Hearts’ title hopes.

As a result, many of the Easter Road faithful are keen to get tickets before they sell out, with the club given a 2,902 allocation

On 22 January, Hibs announced via their X account that season ticket holders can now purchase their seats for the derby.

However, many struggled to acquire tickets due to the website crashing and freezing.

Therefore, many fans were furious and were quick to take to X to criticise the announcement.

Hibs’ record at Tynecastle explained

In recent years, Hibs have had a pretty dire record when travelling to Tynecastle.

In their last eight visits, they have only picked up one win, with this coming in December 2024 as they saw out a 2-1 victory.

However, the majority of the time, the Jam Tarts have come out on top, winning three of the last eight fixtures at the ground.

Nevertheless, with a heavy amount of these ties ending in a draw, Hibs will likely be pleased with this outcome if it repeats next month.

A stalemate would likely improve Gray’s chances of finishing fourth, while also damaging Hearts’ title chances.

However, it remains to be seen if Hibs can pull off another upset in the Edinburgh derby in February.
