‘His legs are gone’ – Celtic fans enraged by starter who won 0% of his ground duels vs Feyenoord

Celtic supporters were unimpressed with Kieran Tierney’s display in their 3-1 win against Feyenoord in the Europa League.

Prior to the match, attention was still on the wait for the appointment of WIlfried Nancy as the new Celtic manager.

Former Everton and Aston Villa chief executive Keith Wyness exclusively told Football Insider that the lethargy in bringing Nancy in reflects Celtic’s low ambitions.

On what was a jubilant night for the Hoops, fans weren’t completely happy as Tierney delivered an awkward performance in The Netherlands.

Tierney re-joined Celtic over the summer from Arsenal with questions constantly being raised over his ongoing problems with injuries.

The Scotland international has been one of the mainstays under Brendan Rodgers and Martin O’Neill, yet wasn’t completely on top of his game against the Dutch outfit.

The 28-year-old was poor on the ball, losing possession 12 times as well as only completing 56 per cent of his passes in the opposition half.

Moreover, Tierney was inaccurate with his crosses to try and tee up Daizen Maeda in the box, finding his target on only one occasion.

Conversely, the ex-Gunner failed to win a single one of his two ground duels on the European stage.

However, fans were particularly frustrated by the Scotsman’s decision to play a risky offside for Feyenoord’s goal on the night, as many pondered over his lethargy in moving his body.

One Celtic supporter said: “Tierney knows his legs are gone trying to play offside.” with another adding: “Tierney will feel the wrath of Martin O’Neill at half-time…can’t gamble playing offside there.”
