The jack-in-the-box midfielder lost his rag and his place on the pitch after 36 minutes when he was shown a straight red card following an overly robust tussle with Dylan McGeouch.
In the wake of the departure of the ex-Aberdeen midfielder, Hibs went 2-1 up through Tavenier’s own goal and the tide of the match was firmly turned in Hibs’ favour.
Jack’s loss of discipline cost his side dearly and he will miss the Hearts match, unless Rangers are successful in their appeal against his red card.
