Experienced Argentina international Zabaleta is also a top bit of business from the Hammers, with Bilic turning to players trusted in the Premier League rather than risking overseas talent as he did last summer.
Former Leeds defender Sam Byram is Zabaleta’s only competition on the right side of defence, but the presence of the Premier League winner could help the inconsistent Byram improve.
For the time being, Zabaleta will almost certainly get the nod.
