‘Hudson-Odoi set for England call-up’ after confirmed injury news – fans react
Thomas Tuchel caused quite a stir with the announcement of his first England squad due to some of the omissions – but another Nottingham Forest star could be the next beneficiary.
The former Chelsea boss got off to a perfect start in charge of the Three Lions as they comfortably defeated Albania 2-0 on Friday (21 March).
Myles Lewis-Skelly scored his first-ever international goal while England captain and leading goalscorer Harry Kane rounded things out in the 77th minute as their World Cup qualification campaign started in a perfect way.
Tuchel impressed fans with the performance that the Three Lions provided, but there were question marks about the squad that he chose as certain out-of-form players such as Jordan Henderson and Marcus Rashford were brought back into the squad.
Nottingham fans were stunned that none of their English players were called up to Tuchel’s initial squad, despite the fact they sit third in the Premier League table currently.
Morgan Gibbs-White was eventually drafted into the squad when Cole Palmer withdrew due to injury, and Tuchel could now make a similar decision before the final game.

Anthony Gordon has been forced to withdraw
It was confirmed by England on Sunday (23 March) that Anthony Gordon has now withdrawn from the squad ahead of Monday’s (24 March) game against Latvia.
The Newcastle United winger hurt his hip against Albania and appeared to be in some discomfort as Tuchel confirmed the injury during his post-match interview.
Club stats 2024-25 (all competitions) | Gordon |

It now remains to be seen whether or not Tuchel will look to draft in a last-minute replacement before Monday’s game or if he will simply continue with the players available to him.

England fans want Callum Hudson-Odoi to get a chance
Callum Hudson-Odoi has been one of Nottingham’s standout players during this season, and there was an outcry of disappointment when he wasn’t called up to the England squad.
However, supporters believe that the former Chelsea winger should now get an opportunity with the squad.
