Hugo Lloris facing Tottenham axe as footage re-analysed – ‘get rid,’ says expert

Alan Hutton has insisted Tottenham need to bring in competition for Hugo Lloris.

But, speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the former Spurs right-back is unsure if Daniel Levy will be willing to “pay a premium” to get in one of their top targets this month.

As shown on Sky Sports (1 January), the 36-year-old spilled the ball after Douglas Luiz’s strike from distance, which allowed Watkins to find Emiliano Buendia who calmly slotted home.

Spurs went on to lose the game 2-0.

According to the Daily Mail (27 December), the Lilywhites are considering a move for Everton shot stopper Jordan Pickford as Lloris’ long-term replacement.

Pickford has 18 months left on his contract at Goodison Park and Lloris’ contract also expires in 2024.

Hutton insisted Tottenham need someone to push the France international.

You look at Lloris, he is in the final of the World Cup and he is still spilling a ball,” he told Football Insider.

“I think you have to bring someone in . [Fraser] Forster is a good keeper but I do not foresee him being the number one for the future. Somebody is going to have to come in to push Lloris right now.

The problem is that in January you have to pay a premium for your top targets. Are they willing to do that on a goalkeeper? I am not so sure.

Douglas Luiz hits a shot from about 40 yards, he should be able to catch that no problem. They need to get rid of these mistakes if they want to really challenge.
