Hugo Lloris: Spurs expert digs at fans over baffling Tottenham star criticism

Hugo Lloris does not deserve the criticism being aimed at him by some Tottenham fans.

That is according to Spurs insider John Wenham, who regularly breaks news about the club on his Lilywhite Rose social media channels.

Lloris was caught out in the second half of his side’s win against Leeds on Saturday (26 February) as he came charging out of his goal in a bid to stop Stuart Dallas from scoring.

He missed the Leeds man, giving Dallas the whole goal to aim at but he failed to convert.

This came after criticism of Lloris’ performances against Wolves (13 February) and Manchester City (19 February).

The stopper was blamed for both of Wolves’ goals in their 2-0 win at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium while he also spilled the ball against City, allowing the hosts to equalise.

“People are pointing out these mistakes have happened three games in a row but aren’t mentioning the amazing saves he made against Man City,” Wenham told Football Insider correspondent Ben Wild.

“People are forgetting those saves secured us the three points in that game which was obviously massive for our season,

“He did come out and he looked close to bringing him down. Only Lloris can tell us how close he was.

“It’s all if buts and maybes about would he have been sent off if he made contact.

“Well, he didn’t. It confuses me because we see this criticism every week now and it’s undeserved.

“I can’t imagine where we would be without him and he’s certainly a better option than Gollini.

Lloris has started all of Spurs’ league games this season.

His side currently lie seventh in the top flight.
