Hutton: Aston Villa tipped to seal record-breaking Grealish fee after reveal
Aston Villa would seriously consider a concrete bid of £100million for Jack Grealish, according to Alan Hutton.
Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the ex-Villa and Scotland full-back delivered his verdict after it was reported Manchester City are preparing a bid for the Villa captain.
The Athletic reported on 25 June the Premier League champions have not yet made formal contact with Aston Villa but are expected to formalise their interest.
Football Insider first revealed on 9 April Grealish had told friends he was interested in swapping Villa Park for the Etihad Stadium.
“For a player that comes through your youth system, to be the captain at 25, your outstanding player, to be bought for £100million is some going,” Hutton told Football Insider assistant editor Russell Edge.
“If a solid bid of £100million there will be a lot of people around the table seriously discussing it.

“They obviously won’t want him to leave, we know how much he means to the club and how he performs.
“He’s central to their plans because I read Dean Smith saying that the players they can attract are because of the likes of Jack so they won’t want to sell him.
“But I think if somebody does come in with a concrete offer of £100million, it’s going to have to be talked about and I wonder if it will be enough to get it over the line. It would break the British transfer record.
“It’s a big number for a very talented player so it will definitely be interesting to see what happens.”
The current record fee paid for a British player is the £85million Real Madrid paid Tottenham for Gareth Bale in 2013.
