Hutton can’t believe ‘astonishing’ new Michael Beale claim about Rangers sacking
Michael Beale must “focus on his new job” rather than speak out on his Rangers sacking.
Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, former Rangers and Aston Villa defender Alan Hutton claimed Beale’s recent comments were “fair”, but suggested he focus his attention on his new role as Sunderland boss.
Beale recently admitted that he felt “bruised” and “heartbroken” at times during his spell at Ibrox but shared his happiness on the Gers’ new-found success under Philippe Clement.
He also alluded to instability on and off the field that may have impacted his tenure at the club, which ended with fan outrage in response to poor performances and lacklustre summer signings.
Hutton claimed that Beale was “desperate” to be a success at Rangers, but urged him to turn his attention to the Black Cats.
“I think his comments are fair,” he told Football Insider.
“The dust has now settled on his sacking and he’s got himself a new job at Sunderland.
“He should be concentrated on that, but there will always be mixed feelings.
“He knew the club well when he was there with Steven Gerrard and then got his opportunity [as head coach].

“He was desperate to make it work at Rangers and for something special to happen, but it didn’t quite work out for him.
“You understand these quite astonishing comments, but ultimately he needs to focus on his new job.”
