Hutton claims Celtic are ‘sitting pretty’ as new signing suggested

Celtic don’t need to sign a replacement for Jota this summer.

Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, former Rangers defender Alan Hutton said boss Brendan Rodgers will be happy with the position his squad is in going in to the opening game of the season on Saturday (5 August).

The Celts lost star winger Jota this summer after he agreed a big money move to Saudi Pro League side Al-Ittihad.

According to transfer expert Fabrizio Romano (31 July), the Hoops are in the market to replace the 24-year-old in the coming months.

Rodgers has already welcomed Marco Tilio and Hyunjun Yang to Parkead, both able to play on the right side of attack.

Rodgers is already heavily stacked going forward with Sead Haksabanovic, Liel Abada, Dazien Maeda, Mikey Johnston and James Forest all able to play as wingers.

When asked if the Scottish champions need to recruit another forward, Hutton told Football Insider:I think they have definitely got options.

Maeda has been playing through the middle, he can obviously play out wide. Tilio has come in, Abada is still there. They have got plenty of options,

Kyogo [Furuhashi] can go out wide as well. I do not really see the need to go out and bring in somebody else, it seems like Brendan is happy with where the squad is at.

I would never say never, there is still time left in the window to bring in more players if he feels he needs to but I think they are in a good position at the moment in time. They are sitting pretty at the moment so I do not see any worries.
