Hutton ‘frustrated’ by Rangers after chief’s Calvin Bassey claim

Alan Hutton is “frustrated” by the lack of impact from the Rangers summer signings this season.

Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the former Gers and Scotland defender said “a lot of money” has been spent on the likes of Ben Davies and Ridvan Yilmaz.

Rangers made seven signings in the summer transfer window.

Davies, Yilmaz, Rabbi Matondo, Antonio Colak, Tom Lawrence and John Souttar arrived on permanent deals, while Mailk Tillman joined on loan.

None of the aforementioned players started in the Light Blues’ 2-1 win over Dundee United on 17 September.

Speaking to club media (20 September), vice-chairman John Bennett defended the club’s transfer strategy and said the summer arrivals need more time.

Bennett used former Gers defender Calvin Bassey as an example.

When asked by Football Insider if the vice-chairman had a point, Hutton said: “Possibly.

“All signings need time to settle in, that is a given.

“But when you come to a team like Rangers or Celtic you have to hit the ground running. You are expected to win trophies and you are expected to challenge for every competition. Some of these players might not be used to that.

” When you look at the money has been spend on the likes of Yilmaz and Davies, it is a lot of money for Rangers. For them not to be playing is frustrating as much as they all need to be given time to bed in.”
