Hutton issues ‘big’ Tottenham verdict after what he’s seen

Alan Hutton has claimed winning one of the domestic cups will be a “big goal” for Tottenham this season.

Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the former Spurs right-back is confident Spurs could end their 14-year spell without silverware this season.

The Lilywhites beat newly promoted Fulham 2-1 on Saturday (3 September).

Antonio Conte’s side are unbeaten so far this season.

The London club are currently third in the Premier League table and joint on points with Man City.

They play in the third round of the League Cup against Nottingham Forest on 8 November.

When asked if Spurs have a good chance of winning silverware this season, Hutton told Football Insider: “Totally, I think they have to be in with a chance.

I think the remit at the start of the season was, a trophy and top four at least. I do believe they’re strong enough to be in that top four.

Tottenham

They’re not going to challenge one or two in my opinion but both trophies are a big goal for them. Obviously they’re in the Champions League, whether they go all the way, or they drop into the Europa League, we’ll have to wait and see but definitely silverware.

I know we say it every year and they haven’t won since 2008 and they need to win something but I think with the group of players they’ve got now, the manager, they can actually do that this year.

In other news, a Tottenham expert can’t believe ‘bizarre’ thing he’s just heard from fans.
