Hutton makes bold Giakoumakis claim after ‘research’ on Celtic new boy
Alan Hutton claims Celtic are onto a winner after they confirmed the signing of Georgios Giakoumakis.
The Rangers icon, speaking exclusively to Football Insider, reacted after the Hoops secured their 10th summer signing.
Giakoumakis was announced as a Celtic player on deadline day, replacing Odsonne Edouard, who signed for Crystal Palace.
It is understood Celtic paid Β£2.5millon to lure Giakoumakis from VVV-Venlo.
Last season he bagged an impressive 26 goals in 30 outings in the Eredivisie.
Hutton admitted he had to look up Giakoumakis after he was announced as a Celtic player but he was impressed by what he found.
βTo be honest, I didnβt know much about him,β Hutton told Football Insider assistant editor Russell Edge.
βI looked him up and to score 26 goals in any league is brilliant.
βIf he can bring that standard to Scotland, they are on for a winner.
βTo flip Edouard for Β£15million and spend Β£2.5million on a goal machine, itβs ideal.
βAs long as he can bring those goals to Celtic. it will be interesting to see how he works with Kyogo.
βI think heβs better through the middle. If this guy can score goals, everyone will be happy.β

Celtic ended up with 12 new players as Ange Postecoglou addressed claims that the squad was due an overhaul.
Several other big name players also left Parkhead along with Edouard, chief among them Kristoffer Ajer and Ryan Christie.
