Hutton makes ‘brilliant’ Robbie Ure claim after source’s Rangers talks update

Alan Hutton has claimed Robbie Ure is not ready for a regular place in the Rangers team despite his “brilliant” debut against Queen of the South.

Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the former Gers right-back said the 18-year-old still has areas to “brush up on” before he can be a regular in the first team.

On Wednesday (31 August), sources told this site that the Glasgow club are set to open contract negotiations with the forward.

The youngster has entered the final 12 months of his current deal.

Ure made his debut for the Ibrox club in their Premier Sports Cup game against Queen of the South on Tuesday (30 August).

The striker scored in the 3-1 win over the League One side.

When asked if Ure could get a chance to lead the line for the first team this season, Hutton told Football Insider: “I don’t think this season.

Obviously it was brilliant that he had such a good debut, scored his goal. He still looks a bit raw in terms of fundamentals, holding the ball up, linking the play he was a little bit short there.

He’s only young, that’s going to come with time and being more involved with the first team and getting used to how difficult it can be.

So there’s obviously some things to brush up on and I’m sure the back room staff will be helping him with that. You can see again that he has got what it takes, he’s got the presence, scoring goals this season already so his time will come.

I think, right now, at this moment in time he’s not quite ready.
