Hutton makes ‘massive’ Rangers claim as Potter sounded out

Michael Beale won’t be given time as Rangers boss if results do not start to improve.

Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, former Gers defender Alan Hutton said that although he likes Beale as a manager, he has not achieved what he should have.

Beale is under serious pressure at Ibrox following last weekend’s 1-0 defeat to Celtic that tipped off a poor collection of results including an opening day league defeat to Kilmarnock and a 5-1 second leg defeat to PSV Eindhoven, knocking them out of the Champions League.

The Gers hierarchy have even begun discreetly sounding out potential replacements for the manager, with Graham Potter at the top of the list, as revealed by Football Insider (8 September).

Hutton insisted Beale will be feeling the pressure after last weekend’s defeat.

Nowadays in football you just do not get time,” he told Football Insider.

I really like him as a manager but when you actually look at it, he spoke about what his aims were: Champions League, to be top of the league come the first international break and he has not done that.

He has brought in 11 players since he arrived so it is his team now.

You look at the games against Celtic there has been six, he has won one that did not really mean anything towards the end of last season, they have had a draw and the big ones have gone to Celtic.

Rangers

Of course there will be pressure and he will know that, he needs to get results and fast. He will know now after this international break he will have to get this team going.

They have got European fixtures, the League Cup against Livingston which is massive with Celtic out now and they are four points off the top spot so it is definitely not ideal.
