Hutton makes ‘scary’ Leeds claim after player news Bamford will love
Alan Hutton has suggested Patrick Bamford will be delighted after Leeds United secured the deadline-day signing of Dan James from Manchester United.
Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the former Scotland boss admitted the 23-year-old’s arrival means the Whites now have a “scary” front line.
Leeds confirmed the capture of James from Manchester United on Tuesday (31st August).
He joins the likes of Raphinha, Jack Harrison and Rodrigo as attacking support to star striker Bamford.
Both Harrison and Raphinha have started all three of Leeds’ Premier League fixtures so far.
Hutton insisted James’ arrival would offer some more “pace and trickery” to the Whites’ attack.
As such, he suggested Bamford would be rubbing his hands together at the prospect of linking up with his new teammate.
“That’s a scary thought, when you think about it, the pace that they’ve got up there,” Hutton told Football Insider’s Russell Edge.
“If you’re a striker, you know you’re going to get opportunities. They’re going to create things with their pace and their trickery.
“They’ve got a little bit of everything in those forward areas, in my opinion. They’re a really exciting team to play in and be involved with.
“Bamford, he scored a lot of goals last season, 17 in the league. He’ll be looking to replicate that.
“Bringing in a player like Daniel James is only going to make that better. He’s going to create more opportunities for you, It’s just a matter of whether you can finish them off.”

James scored five goals and contributed two assists in 26 appearances for Manchester United last season.
He played twice in the Red Devils’ opening three games, including against Leeds.
