Hutton suggests ‘biggest thing’ for Rangers after what he saw in person
Alan Hutton is delighted Rangers players are taking to Michael Beale’s style.
Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the former Gers right-back said the “biggest” thing to come out of the Bears’ friendly win over Bayer Leverkusen was seeing the team take on board what Beale wants.
The Light Blues beat Leverkusen 3-0 in a friendly at Ibrox on Saturday (10 December) as Beale took charge for the first time as manager.
A double from Malik Tillman and a late strike from Scott Arfield sealed the victory for the Glasgow club.
Rangers restart their Scottish Premiership campaign at home to Hibernian on Thursday (15 December).
When asked if the win will have been a big boost to the players, Hutton told Football Insider: “Possibly.
“I do not think Bayer Leverkusen were up to much but it is good to get off to a winning start.
“Mick Beale said before that it is not the be all and end all to win the game. Obviously you still want to win but that was not the biggest thing to come out of it.
“The biggest thing was the training that he has done and seeing that in a real game situation.
“He seemed pleased. I think he had only done nine sessions with the players so they are obviously taking on board what he wants.
“So I think that is what he will be most pleased with as well as everybody within the squad getting game time, which is a good thing.“

The Bears confirmed Beale would be taking over from departing boss Giovanni van Bronckhorst last month.
He will be hoping to close the nine point gap to Glasgow rivals Celtic when the season resumes.
