Hutton suggests real reason for what’s going on with Ryan Kent at Rangers

Alan Hutton has suggested uncertainty around Ryan Kent’s future is impacting his performances at Rangers.

Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the former Gers right-back told Kent to secure his future, whether it is at Ibrox or not, in order to focus solely on the football.

The 25-year-old has entered the final 12 months of his contract with the Light Blues.

Earlier this month (1 October), sources told this site that the winger rejected a new contract offer as he sets his sights on a move to the Premier League.

As quoted by the Glasgow Times (18 October), when asked about Kent’s contract situation, Giovanni van Bronckhorst said he would like to get the negotiations concluded but acknowledged that it is up to the player and the club.

When asked if the uncertainty surrounding his future is taking a toll on his performances this season, Hutton told Football Insider: “I do not think it helps.

There is obviously a lot of noise surrounding Ryan Kent in terms of will he stay or will he go. The rest of his contract is running out, everybody knows this.

I think for him personally he needs to secure his future, whether that be at Rangers or away. Then he can solely concentrate on his football.

He will know that, numbers wise, it has to get better. He has got all the ability in the world, he is a great football player. That is why he gets judged because he is better than what he has shown.

It is not ideal as a Rangers supporter to sit and think what is happening? Is he signing or not? So there is a lot of uncertainty around him at this moment in time and it can’t be helping his performances on the pitch.

In other news, Hutton has claimed Rangers are victims of major injustice as Alfredo Morelos footage analysed.
