I am the ‘lone voice’ backing Thomas Frank at Tottenham, this is why
Thomas Frank is not the sole problem at Tottenham amid increasing pressure on the manager.
That is according to ex-Everton, Aston Villa, and Aberdeen chief executive Keith Wyness, speaking exclusively to Football Insider, who is continuing to back Frank at Spurs.
Frank is facing the sack at Spurs, although the Dane earned an important 2-0 win over Borussia Dortmund in the Champions League.
However, Spurs’ 2-1 loss to West Ham last time out in the Premier League leaves the north London side 14th in the table and ten points above the relegation zone.
Tottenham ‘should be backing Thomas Frank’
Everton’s former chief Keith Wyness – who served as CEO at Goodison Park between 2004 and 2009 and now runs a football consultancy advising elite clubs – believes sacking Frank would “be papering over the cracks” at Spurs.
Speaking on the new edition of Football Insider‘s Inside Track podcast, Wyness thinks the club must stick by Frank.
He told Football Insider‘s Inside Track podcast: “Well, we said last week that Conor Gallagher coming in was a sign of backing Thomas Frank and I still believe that they should be backing Thomas Frank.
“I seem to be the lone voice saying that I think he can still turn things around, and I think they should stick with him and I hope they do. I do think the players have got a lot to answer for. As we’ve said all along, I believe the problems go deeper at Spurs than just Thomas Frank.
“And I think that they’ve got to have a real hard look at themselves. And if they were to sack another manager, it would just be papering over the cracks of the fundamental issues that sit in the Spurs management and ownership. So I think they’ve got to stick with him.”

Tottenham could face mass exodus
Spurs’ 17th-placed finish last season and their continued struggles on the pitch mean the club could be faced with departures.
Key players are weighing up their futures at Spurs, with the club unlikely to qualify for the Champions League next season.
Centre-back partners Cristian Romero and Micky van de Ven could be among the players to depart, with European clubs interested in the pair.
