‘I don’t rule anything out’ – Thomas Tuchel admits Mason Greenwood could make England comeback
England manager Thomas Tuchel has not ruled out the possibility of Mason Greenwood making a future return to the Three Lions squad.
Tuchel is preparing for England‘s next two World Cup qualifiers against Andorra and Serbia, with the World Cup less than a year away.
Former Manchester United forward Greenwood has not played for England since September 2020, his only cap for his country.
The 23-year-old had serious charges against him dropped in 2023, and he left Man United by mutual agreement after a “six month internal investigation into his conduct” [BBC Sport].

Thomas Tuchel doesn’t say no to Mason Greenwood return
Greenwood currently plays for Marseille in Ligue 1, and has the right to play for Jamaica through his mother, and now has a passport and citizenship for the Caribbean nation.
However, Greenwood has yet to accept a call-up to the Jamaica national side, and The Sun [5 September], report that Tuchel remains open to giving the forward a chance in his team.
Tuchel told the press: “I have not spoken to him until now. I have not spoken to him or his camp.
“My understanding was that he tries to play for Jamaica so we didn’t give it another thought.
“He was not in the mix at the moment and he is not in our thoughts for our team. I don’t rule anything out but he is no priority at the moment.”
Mason Greenwood pushing for England recall
Football Insider Verdict
Greenwood is continuing to wait for a call from England, and is currently rejecting the advances of Jamaica who clearly want the forward to bolster their ranks.
Calling up Greenwood to the England squad again could be a controversial decision, and perhaps Tuchel wants to avoid questioning on any legal matters.

Tuchel has plenty of attacking options, and Greenwood not playing in the Premier League could count against him.
Greenwood’s form at Marseille though has been excellent, but against the talent at Tuchel’s disposal it is hard to make a case for him to oust a Premier League player from the squad.

Tuchel is unlikely to bring new players into the fold with the World Cup on the horizon and the need to experiment with the player’s that will be on the plane to North America.
Greenwood would be better accepting Jamaica’s call if he wants to play international football.
