‘I know Tammy Abraham well, this is why he will be the perfect Aston Villa signing’
Tammy Abraham has been backed to be a success should he make a sensational return to Aston Villa before the January transfer window closes.
Former Aston Villa senior scout Mick Brown told Football Insider that the 28-year-old could thrive in returning to familiar surroundings at Villa Park.
This comes after Football Insider revealed on 12 January that Aston Villa are in talks to re-sign Abraham, although a deal could be tricky to pull off.
The former Chelsea striker is currently on loan at Besiktas, who are demanding compensation if they are to forfeit their £11million obligation to buy him in the summer.
Unai Emery, meanwhile, is desperate to land the signing of a new striker to provide backup to Ollie Watkins as his squad remains short of depth up front.

Aston Villa backed to re-sign Tammy Abraham
Abraham thrived on loan at Villa during the 2018-19 season, as he bagged 26 goals in 40 appearances and fired his side to promotion from the Championship.
Brown, who played a key role in securing his loan deal from Chelsea, believes a return to Villa Park will prove beneficial to all parties if it can be agreed.
“We brought Tammy Abraham in when I was at Villa,” he told Football Insider.
“We took him on loan alongside Axel Tuanzebe from Man United, and Tyrone Mings from Bournemouth, and they played a vital part in getting us promoted.
“Abraham scored about 25 goals, he was fantastic and I was making a case for him to be signed at the end of the season, but Villa didn’t go for it.
“Anyway, the word at Villa is they would like to bring him back.
“They want another striker to cover for Watkins and I think Abraham would be a perfect option, it’s certainly something that makes a lot of sense.
“He’s a bit like Watkins in that technically, he’s not the best, but you know he’s not going to stop and give up, he’ll keep getting into these positions until it comes off.

“That type of striker suits Villa and suits Emery, we’ve seen it with Watkins, and I think it will suit the player as well coming back to familiar surroundings.
“He’s been away for a while, but stepping back into the Premier League at a club where the fans know him and he knows people, it can only be a benefit.”
Aston Villa dealt huge blow in January transfer plans
Brown told Football Insider on 12 January that Aston Villa hoped to sign Conor Gallagher after talks with Atletico Madrid, despite interest from rival clubs.
However, despite Villa reaching an agreement with Atletico Madrid, Tottenham made a late swoop to hijack the deal and he now looks set for a move to North London.
Gallagher has started just nine of his 27 appearances across all competitions so far this season, and is keen to play more regular football ahead of the World Cup.

As a result, Football Insider revealed last month that Gallagher is open to a Premier League return, with Man United also counted among his multiple admirers.
However, Tottenham are set to win the race for his signature and have been long-term fans of the midfielder since his time at Chelsea.
