‘I love it’ – Agbonlahor: PL told to launch U-turn as Liverpool severely affected
Man City and the rest of the Premier League should be subject to stricter stoppage time rules like in the World Cup, according to Gabby Agbonlahor.
Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the ex-Aston Villa and England attacker insisted he “loves” the new directive that has been on display in Qatar.
Games at the tournament have regularly run over 100 minutes with referees clamping down on time lost during VAR and substitute breaks as well as general time-wasting.

The Daily Mail reported last week (24 November) that the Premier League will not adopt the change and no discussions have taken place between officials and the PGMOL over a change.
“The stoppage time being added on, I love it,” Agbonlahor told Football Insider correspondent Connor Whitley.
“I feel like it should happen in the Premier League, it stops people from wasting time. It stops goalkeepers from wasting time on goal-kicks, throw-ins and with the substitutes you are allowed in the modern game it adds a lot of time.
“For fans and people watching on TV deserve the full 90 minutes. I’m really happy that Fifa have done that and it’s something they should do in the Premier League, for sure.
“It will stop people from timewasting because you think it’s the 89th minute but it’s not, you’ve got 10 minutes of injury time.”

Liverpool return to Premier League action on Boxing Day when they travel to Aston Villa.
Jurgen Klopp’s side are sixth in the table after winning their last two top flight games before the break for the World Cup.
In other news, there has been a major Liverpool takeover update after an “approach” from Mukesh Ambani.
