‘I Tell You What…’ – Exclusive: Top pundit fumes over what he’s seen at Arsenal

Kevin Campbell has blasted referee Craig Pawson for his decision to send off Arsenal defender David Luiz against Wolves on Tuesday night.

Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the former Gunners and Everton striker called the decision to dismiss the 33-year-old “madness” in a scathing review of the Premier League’s referees and their use of VAR.

Luiz was shown a straight red on the stroke of half time for the slightest of contacts with the back of Wolves striker William Jose’s achilles.

The penalty incident, which occurred when Mikel Arteta’s side were one to the good, would ultimately chance the course of the game with the hosts coming from behind to win 2-1.

The club may appeal the decision which could see Luiz suspended for games against Aston Villa and Leeds United.

When asked by Football Insider for his assessment of the decisive incident, Campbell fumed: “One decision can change everything and it did.

“It is madness.

“I tell you what, I agree on the penalty because there was contact. Give the penalty but you cannot send him off for that!

“He has not made a play for the player or the ball. That is not a sending off! It is the slightest of touches. There is nothing he can do because it is the striker’s boot that catches him. That is not a sending off. Come on!

“These referees, even with VAR, are not getting things right. It is so frustrating for everybody. Everybody can see it with their own eyes but the VAR still gets it wrong. It is madness.”
