‘I wish he’d shut up’ – Aston Villa fans furious as Ollie Watkins tips Morgan Rogers for huge transfer

Aston Villa supporters are rightly fuming after hearing that Ollie Watkins sees Morgan Rogers’ future away from Villa Park.

Chelsea have long been linked with Rogers, with the 23-year-old reaching 24 goals and 20 assists in 98 appearances since arriving from Middlesbrough on a £15million deal.

Multiple Premier League clubs have kept tabs on the former Man City gem, much like his teammate, with Arsenal being linked with Watkins in more than one transfer window, but Unai Emery still has both stars.

With Villa well and truly in the Premier League title race, level on points with Pep Guardiola‘s team and six points behind the Gunners, it is no surprise to see so much interest in Emery’s stars.

However, supporters are clearly not happy with one of their very own players tipping a teammate for a bigger move, especially during a January transfer window.

Ollie Watkins tips Morgan Rogers for Real Madrid move

Watkins has now admitted that he “won’t be surprised” if his teammate, one day, earns a big-money move to Real Madrid, and it has sent fans into a spiral.

Fans have not taken the comments well, with multiple telling the England international to “shut up,” while others have made a request to the club to take the player off interviews in future.

It is certainly a baffling thing for the striker to say. Sure, if a pundit says this, it is totally understandable, but just like managers refuse to comment on transfer speculation, Watkins should not have said this.

What has Rogers said about his future at Aston Villa?

Rogers has already spoken about how he feels when it comes to the Villans. Luckily for the home supporters, it couldn’t really be anymore positive if he tried.

When putting pen to paper on a new contract in November, extending his deal until 2031, the star said: “It’s home. Being from the area makes it that bit sweeter…

“I’m excited to come in and train, work hard and give my all every day. There’s no reason why I wouldn’t want to stay here.”

That is exactly what fans would have wanted to hear when there’s so much speculation around the 23-year-old’s future, but it would be a surprise to see him stay at Villa Park forever.

It will just be a matter of time before Real Madrid come knocking for the incredible talent’s signature, but Villa will do everything in their power to keep him in the Midlands.
