Ian Wright: Arsenal can expose these two Bayern Munich stars if they do this
By Will Butcher
Arsenal will expose Bayern Munich defenders Mats Hummels and Javi Martinez if Arsene Wenger starts his quickest attackers, according to Ian Wright.
The Gunners are currently in Germany preparing to face Bayern in the Champions League’s Round of 16 first leg on Wednesday night at the Allianz Arena.
Posting on his personal Twitter account, former Arsenal striker Wright believes the Gunners can earn a first-leg advantage if Wenger starts his “pace men” against Bayern’s defence.
However, The Times claim that versatile Alex-Oxlade Chamberlain is set to be picked over speed machine Theo Walcott on the right flank.
Other attacking stars that are renowned for their pace include Alexis Sanchez and Alex Iwobi, with both expected to start in attack for the Gunners.
Wright will be hoping his former side can forget the demons of their last outing against Bayern, which saw the German champions run riot in a 5-1 win at the Allianz Arena in November 2015.
However, Carlo Ancelotti’s side will be in buoyant mood after winning 10 of their last 11 games, and remain at the top of the Bundesliga despite competition from surprise package RB Leipzig.
Both sides will be desperate to secure victory under the light of the Allianz in Germany, with the second leg to be played at the Emirates Stadium on March 7.
In other Arsenal news, Charlie Nicholas believes this 23-year-old should leave the Gunners in the summer.
