Ian Wright sends message to Gabriel after Romero’s Tottenham bust-up

Arsenal legend Ian Wright couldn’t hide his joy after Gabriel secured the win in the first North London Derby of the season on Sunday.

The 26-year-old scored the only goal of the game with a towering header, shrugging off Spurs defender Cristian Romero to power it home in the 64th minute.

Romero then took to social media to claim Spurs’ travel arrangements following the international break were partly to blame for the defeat.

Arsenal’s 1-0 win at the Tottenham Hotspur stadium keeps them hot on the tail of league leaders Man City with ten points from a possible 12.

The two clubs face off in what could be an early title decider at the Etihad on Sunday, as Mikel Arteta’s side seek to finally lift the Premier League trophy.

Ian Wright full of love for Arsenal winner Gabriel

Alongside William Saliba, Gabriel has formed one of the most formidable centre-back pairings in the Premier League, conceding just one goal so far this season.

They’re deadly from set-pieces, the defender’s header was the 24th set-piece goal scored by Arsenal since the start of last season, the most by any side in the Premier League.

Wright, Arsenal’s second all-time top goalscorer with 185, took to Instagram to share a video of him celebrating the goal, tagging Gabriel.

Spurs legend Glenn Hoddle sits behind him, visibly annoyed by the fact his old club conceded against their bitter rivals.

Next up for Arsenal is their first Champions League game of the season, a trip to Italian side Atalanta on Thursday (September 19).
