Exclusive: McNamara rips into Rangers player who’s big concern for Gerrard – ‘He regrets it’

Jackie McNamara ripped into Rangers attacker Alfredo Morelos for showing the ugly side of his game against Motherwell.

Speaking exclusively to Football Insider correspondent Laura O’Leary, the ex-Scotland international admitted it was a big concern for Gerrard that the Gers forward was picking up avoidable red cards.

The Colombian forward received his marching orders in the 2-0 win over Motherwell after picking up a second yellow card for gesturing to the fans after scoring.

McNamara slammed Morelos for responding to the stick he was getting but quickly adding the 23-year-old probably regrets his actions.

When asked if Morelos getting a silly red card for gesturing to the Motherwell fans was a big concern as it’s the ugly side of his game on show again, McNamara told Football Insider: “Yeah, I think he’ll know himself that he shouldn’t have done it.

“When you score you’ll get stick off the crowd, and he fired back at the fans rather than the opposition.

“I’m sure he regrets it.”

Morelos’s red card on Sunday was his first on the season with him disciplinarily record seemingly improved after seeing red five times in his 2018/19 campaign.

The 23-year-old forward has been in red-hot form this season with him racking up 27 goals as well as registering nine assists in the 33 outings he has made.

Due to his red card, Morelos is now suspended for the Gers’ Friday night clash against Hibernian away from home.

In other Rangers news, it can be REVEALED that the club have opened preliminary talks on signing Premier League player in January.
