Ibrox exclusive: Pundit suggests Gerrard may be tearing his hair out after Rangers win v Celtic

Noel Whelan claims that Rangers manager Steven Gerrard will be tearing his hair out when he evaluates Alfredo Morelos’ performance against Celtic.

The former Leeds striker, speaking exclusively to Football Insider assistant editor Russell Edge, says that the long-awaited victory at Parkhead overshadowed the Colombian’s indiscretions.

The centre-forward was sent off in added time after picking up a second yellow card for diving, his first coming for a shoulder barge on Celtic captain Scott Brown.

With the dust settling on a famous victory, Whelan says that Gerrard may well be tearing his hair out over his star striker’s petulance this week.

“I think the fact that Rangers won that probably took a lot of the frustration away from Steven Gerrard,” Whelan told Football Insider.

“I’m sure when he looks back and when he sits down and reflects on it that what a poor two yellow cards to give away. You won’t see any more weak yellow cards than that and they’re both deserved as well.

“That will the one frustration Stevie has from Sunday’s match.”

Morelos had appeared to have curbed his disciplinary issues this season, with just four yellow cards in his previous 17 Premiership appearances – two of those coming against Motherwell in the same game.

He has been in fine form in front of goal for Gerrard, netting 28 times across all competitions, although his barren run against Celtic stretched to nine games on Sunday afternoon.

In other Rangers news, Alan Hutton was blown away by Rangers player who flew under the radar against Celtic.
