Ilia Gruev sends ‘great’ message to fans after confirmed Leeds news
Leeds United star Ilia Greuv has admitted “great to be finally back” after returning to first-team training following his recent injury setback.
The 24-year-old has been out of action since last October after picking up a knee injury in their 1-1 Championship draw with Norwich.
Gruev has since missed the West Yorkshire side’s last 19 games, with Leeds sitting at the top of the league, one point ahead of second-placed Burnley.
Speaking in his pre-match press conference ahead of their FA Cup clash with Harrogate Town on Saturday (January 11), Daniel Farke provided an update on Gruev, alongside Junior Firpo and Pascal Struijk.
Farke said: “Junior Firpo back in team training since Tuesday, Ilia Gruev is back in team training and Pascal Struijk is back with the team and available.”

The central midfielder was key for Leeds before the injury, starting eight of his nine games across all competitions, and failing to provide a goal contribution in his 653 minutes of action.
Gruev took to Instagram to share an update with the fans, saying: “I’ve missed this feeling so much … so great to be finally back with the team on the training ground again after my injury. Let’s go …!”

With two draws in their last two league games, Leeds have benefitted from a similar loss of form of title rivals Burnley and Sheffield United who have also dropped points over recent weeks.
Leeds have four games remaining in January, including an away trip to Burnley as the race for promotion heats up.
