James Forrest delivers verdict on Celtic form, says what he wants to do v Rangers

Celtic winger James Forrest has revealed his delight at currently having the best season of his career.

The 26-year-old, who has become a mainstay under the management of Brendan Rodgers, scored his 12th goal of the season in the 2-0 win over Dundee, which is already his best ever return for a season.

“I’m buzzing with getting a goal and I want to score more goals for the team, so hopefully I just keep doing that.” he told Celtic’s official website.

He then turned his attention to the forthcoming Old Firm derby against Rangers on Saturday.

“We’ve hit all our goals so far, so to finish it off on Saturday with a win would be a great way to end the year,” he added.

Amongst the highlights of Forrest’s season so far have been the opening goal in the Betfred Cup Final against Motherwell, and a man of the match performance against Bayern Munich at Celtic Park

The Hoops are currently 14 points ahead of their oldest rivals, with Rangers having the chance to cup the gap to 11 points when they take on Motherwell at Ibrox on Wednesday night.

The upcoming match at Celtic Park is the second derby between the sides this season, the Bhoys cruised to a comfortable 2-0 win at Ibrox in September thanks to goals from Tom Rogic and Patrick Roberts, who at the time was keeping James Forrest out of the side.

Forrest has gone from strength to strength since then however and will be a key player as the Hoops attempt to end the year with a win.
