‘I’m hearing’ – This is the big sacrifice Marcus Rashford will make to complete Man United transfer

Marcus Rashford has been aiming for a Manchester United exit for a number of months but will have to make a sacrifice in order for it to happen.

Rashford is currently on loan at Barcelona from the Red Devils, and his time with the Spanish giants has started well.

The 28-year-old already has nine goal contributions in La Liga for Hansi Flick’s side, as well as five in the Champions League.

At the end of his loan, Rashford is expected to sign a permanent deal at Barcelona, but will be forced to pay a heavy price to get it over the line.

Marcus Rashford to take big wage cut

Everton’s former chief Keith Wyness – who served as CEO at Goodison Park between 2004 and 2009 and now runs a football consultancy advising elite clubs – believes that Rashford will be forced to take a big wage cut to join Barcelona permanently

Speaking on the new edition of Football Insider’s Inside Track podcast, Wyness revealed that, according to his sources, the England international will go from £300k per week to £175k per week.

Since Ruben Amorim arrived at Man United, the writing has been on the wall regarding Rashford’s future at the club.

Wyness added that the winger will happily take the pay decrease in order to leave Old Trafford for good.

He told Football Insider‘s Inside Track podcast: “I’m hearing it’s going down from about £300k a week to £175k a week. It’s a fairly big cut, but there may well be tax benefits in the way they can pay him in Spain. They tend to pay net rather than gross.

“I think that yes, he would take that. I think he is now really enjoying life again. You can see it in his game. He’s starting to respond. I think the team he’s playing in has the potential to go further. And although there may well be a salary cut, there will be bonuses.

“So I do expect that to go through. I think it’s probably the right move for him as a player. And I think financially, Marcus hasn’t got too much to worry about. They all want to maximise the revenue, but I think this is a smart move.”

Man United could complete Joshua Zirkzee U-turn

Meanwhile, Man United could put their faith in Joshua Zirkzee to cover for Benjamin Sesko while he is out of the team.

That is according to former Man United chief scout Mick Brown, who claims that the striker could now be set for an increased role in the side.

Zirkzee is frustrated at Man United and is expected to push to leave the club in the mid-season window amid growing interest from a number of top sides.

However, after Sesko was forced off with a knee injury against Tottenham, the Dutchman may get a run of games for the Red Devils.
