‘I’m pushing through a move to Newcastle’ – Sadio Mane claim made by expert

Sadio Mane’s potential transfer to Newcastle United would be a move that benefits all parties.

Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, former Aston Villa striker Gabriel Agbonlahor has urged the Senegal forward to pursue a move to Tyneside and join Eddie Howe’s squad.

The Bayern Munich star left Liverpool after spending six years at Anfield for the Bundesliga side last summer, signing for £27.4million, but is already being linked with an exit after a difficult season.

House of Lords life peer and self-proclaimed Magpies fan Lord Martin Callanan took it upon himself to ask Mane whether he’d consider a move to the North East when they met in Senegal.

Using Twitter to reveal Mane’s response, he tweeted. “[I] couldn’t resist asking him about coming to Newcastle United next season. “His enigmatic reply was ‘never say never’.”

Amid a potential move this summer, Agbonlahor believes it would be an ideal transfer for both Newcastle and Mane.

“If I’m Mane, I am pushing a move through to Newcastle,” He told Football Insider.

“I think it would be a great signing and we will see what he can do, as sometimes players leave clubs and go to other clubs and it just doesn’t work out like Coutinho at Barcelona and Mane at Bayern Munich.

“Maybe they don’t play to his strengths.”

So I think it’d be a great sign in, and I’m sure the fee won’t be as big as we think.”
