In-form attacker axed in four changes: Rangers best possible XI v Celtic
COMMENT
Rangers manager Graeme Murty must make four changes to his side if he wants to field his strongest starting XI to face Celtic in Sunday’s crunch Scottish Premiership clash.
Wes Foderingham, Russell Martin, Declan John and Jamie Murphy must come in to the side to replace Jak Alnwick, Bruno Alves, Andy Halliday and in form-attacker Josh Windass from the team which beat Falkirk 4-1 in the Scottish Cup last week.
After sitting out the win over Falkirk, Foderingham must come back into the side at the expense of Alnwick while only James Tavernier and David Bates continue in the side from the back four who started against Paul Hartley’s side.
With John likely to be fit and Martin shaking off an injury concern both need to start at Ibrox alongside Bates and Tavernier and give Murty his strongest possible defence.
The performances of Greg Docherty and Sean Goss in recent weeks have won rave reviews and the pair should continue in central midfield in the crunch Old Firm clash.
Ahead of them, Daniel Candeias and fit-again Jamie Murphy should provide the Gers’ front two of Alfredo Morelos and Jason Cummings with Josh Windass having to settle for a place on the bench after pretty disappointing form at home this season – in stark contrast to his performances away from Ibrox.
The Gers will be desperate to pick up three points and continue to close the gap on their bitter rivals at the top of the Scottish Premiership.
